HYROX Bangkok — Race Guide for Visiting Runners

Last updated: August 2026

The indoor fitness race that has taken over Bangkok's gym scene: eight 1 km runs alternating with eight standardised workouts, run in an air-conditioned exhibition hall — so heat and humidity are finally not the deciding factor.

About the race

HYROX is the same race everywhere in the world: 8 × 1 km of running, each kilometre followed by one functional workout, in a fixed order, on a fixed standard. That consistency is the point — a Bangkok finish time is directly comparable with a London or Singapore one, and qualification for the World Championships works off the global ranking. For runners based in or visiting Thailand, the Bangkok event has one big advantage over every road race in the country: it is held indoors, in an air-conditioned exhibition hall at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani. No 3am start to dodge the heat, no 80% humidity, no air-quality gamble in burning season. If you have ever blown up in a Bangkok half marathon at 9am, this is a very different proposition. It also draws a heavily international field. A large share of entries come from expat gym communities in Sukhumvit and Thonglor, plus visitors from Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia who pair the race with a week in Thailand. If you are travelling in for it, treat it like a destination race: arrive two days early, and do not schedule a Khao San Road night before race morning.

How runners should approach it

Pure runners usually have the easiest 8 km and the hardest everything else. The kilometres themselves are slow — most finishers run them 45–90 seconds off their standalone pace — because you arrive at each one with a wrecked heart rate. The sleds are where road runners lose the most time, and wall balls are where the race is won or lost in the last ten minutes. Practical plan if you come from a running background: spend six weeks doing sled work and wall balls twice a week, keep one hard interval session, and drop your long run to 90 minutes. Compromised running — 400–800 m repeats straight off an erg or a sled — is the single highest-value session.

Start & finish

Conditions

VenueIndoor, air-conditioned exhibition hall
Typical hall temperatureAround 24–26°C
HumidityControlled — far below Bangkok outdoor levels
Air qualityNot a factor indoors, even in burning season

The one weather consideration is the walk between transport and the hall, which can be brutally hot at midday. Carry your race kit and change inside.

Getting there

IMPACT Exhibition Center, Muang Thong Thani

  • directionsMRT Pink Line to Impact Muang Thong Thani station — the line runs directly to the venue, which is the easiest option and new since 2024.
  • directionsTaxi or ride-hailing from central Bangkok: 30–50 minutes off-peak, longer in traffic. Allow 90 minutes on a weekday.
  • directionsShuttle vans run from Mo Chit / Chatuchak on major event days.

IMPACT is in Nonthaburi, not central Bangkok. If your wave is early morning, either stay nearby or leave much earlier than you think you need to.

Where to stay

Muang Thong Thani (at the venue)

  • Novotel Bangkok IMPACT
  • Ibis Bangkok IMPACT

Walking distance to the hall. Books out fast for big IMPACT events — reserve as soon as your entry is confirmed.

Central Bangkok (Sukhumvit / Siam)

  • Anything on the BTS/MRT with a Pink Line connection

Better for the rest of your trip, worse on race morning. Fine if your wave is midday or later.

On the day

Practical tips

Know your wave time

Waves run across the whole day. Your start time is assigned, not chosen — plan travel, food and sleep backwards from it.

Train the sleds

Sled push and pull on the event's turf is nothing like a gym floor. Anyone who hasn't practised loses several minutes here.

Bring indoor shoes

A light trainer with grip. No spikes, no thick maximal foam — you want stability for lunges and carries.

Pace the first 3 km slow

Almost everyone goes out too hard and pays for it at the rowing and lunges. Negative-split the run legs.

Practise wall balls to standard

Depth and target height are judged. A no-rep at rep 90 is the classic Bangkok first-timer story.

HYROX Bangkok — frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a gym member to enter HYROX Bangkok?expand_more

No. Entry is open to anyone. You do need some strength training behind you though — the sleds, lunges and wall balls are unforgiving if your only preparation is running.

Is HYROX Bangkok suitable for visitors from overseas?expand_more

Very. It's the same standardised race format as every other HYROX worldwide, it's held indoors so heat isn't a factor, and English is used throughout the event briefing and signage.

How do I get to IMPACT Muang Thong Thani?expand_more

The MRT Pink Line has a station at the venue, which is the simplest route from central Bangkok. A taxi takes 30–50 minutes off-peak but can take far longer in weekday traffic.

What's a good finish time?expand_more

Roughly: under 60 minutes is elite, 60–75 minutes is strong, 75–90 minutes is a solid competitive age-grouper, and most first-timers finish between 90 minutes and two hours.

Can I do it as a pair?expand_more

Yes — the Doubles division splits the workouts between two athletes while both run every kilometre, and the Relay division splits the whole race across four. Both are popular with visiting groups.
